B or higher is standard for graduate school in general, not just nursing graduate program. C is considered a near-fail. I am not a wiz by any stretch, but I felt that NP school was much easier than the BSN program.

My husband has had his care through the VA for almost 30 years and has never had a single complaint. He recently had heart surgery and was treated fantastically and they did a spectacular job with the procedure and after care.

My hospital has 16 month RN diploma program, and it's free if you' work 2 years for them. Can't beat it.

As a nurse myself of over 20 years, it's important to mention that x dollars per hour is likely not base pay. And that makes all the difference. Like what conditions are you working in for 70/hr? Nights, weekends, nurse:patient ratio, state even...? Just throwing out a number without that context honestly perpetuates more misconceptions about nursing and sets people up for disillusionment.

I’ve been on some sites where doctors talk about “professional encroachment”. But I don’t think that’s true at all, because in my area they seem to go out of their way to get APRN’s and DNP’s on board.

I’ve been through home hospice care twice with both grandparents, and I can unequivocally say that the nurses were SUPER strict about treatment and administering ANY medication, and that’s the way it should be. Upon their passing they even supervised the proper disposal of any narcotics. That nurse did the right thing and I salute her for it.

Traveling is being cut short, every day there are less and less agency nurses and more people are going back to staff. Even prn positions are suffering since they are then first to float to other departments. I just transferred to a progressive care unit. I'm one-year in nursing, starting to understand how badly medicine is managed and how its run. I'm staring to look into holistic medicine!

that last one, that is a NO NO, seriousness is the key, you never joke like that, you could give the staff a heart attack LOL! i have heard similar storys from electricians. a friend of mint told me how his co worker almost gave him a panic attack. while doing a lighting update in a store, he heard him shout and the ladder falling over. when he looked in, he saw him supposedly pinned underneath the ladder, holding the fluorescent light ballast he was replacing. he was about to phone 111 when he got up and said gotcha!. what he did was shout, tip the ladder over and lie under it to make it look like he shocked himself and then fell of the ladder whilst being crushed beneath it. practical jokes can be dangerous. not worth it IMO!

As we learn in nursing school there are many reasons for obesity. Aside from the diet and exercise component you already touched on, these can include *genetics*, disease, altered sleep cycles, and high levels of stress/chronic stress. Many nurses face high levels of stress the entire shift as well as altered circadian rhythm from waking so early for work. For many, especially new nurses, this stress carries over into their days off worrying about their upcoming shifts. Everyones bodies are different and the effects of these things will impact each to varying degrees. So while one may be able to wake up at 5am and head to work without it affecting their weight, another may gain weight. I dont think we should add more shame to our healthcare workers by insinuating it is all their fault. As we know, obesity is a disease.
